Yamaha has entered the electric moped market with the impressive Yamaha Booster. This new electric two-wheeler boasts a stylish design and advanced technology, making it a compelling option for city dwellers.
A Collaboration with Fantic Motor
While the project utilizes the electric two-wheeler platform of Fantic Motor’s isimo, unveiled in 2018, the Yamaha Booster is designed specifically for conquering urban environments. The moped’s design closely resembles a classic scooter, featuring a sturdy aluminum frame and wide 20×4 inch wheels.
Power Options and Performance
Yamaha equips the Booster with its own electric motor, delivering a maximum power of 250 watts and 75 Nm of torque. Interestingly, two versions are available:
- Standard Booster: This version reaches a top speed of 45 km/h (28 mph) and requires a driver’s license and registration.
- Booster Easy: This version prioritizes lower speeds, with a maximum of 25 km/h (15.5 mph). This allows riders to operate the moped without a license or registration.
Battery and Range
Both versions rely on a removable 36-volt, 630 Wh battery. The standard Booster offers a range of 50 to 110 km (31 to 68 miles), while the Booster Easy extends that range to 60 to 120 km (37 to 75 miles). These ranges depend on factors like riding style and chosen performance settings.
Multiple Performance Modes
The Booster offers a variety of performance modes for riders to customize their experience:
- Plus Eco: Maximizes range
- Eco
- Standard
- High: Prioritizes maximum performance
- Auto
Functional Pedals and Additional Features
The Yamaha Booster includes functional pedals, allowing riders to continue using the moped even if the battery runs out (Zero mode). Additionally, a Walk Assist mode helps riders easily push the moped in areas where riding is prohibited.
The Booster features a contemporary design with an integrated rear rack for added practicality. It utilizes LED lighting and boasts a display screen that provides information on battery level, range, selected power mode, clock, odometer, calorie consumption, and more. The standard Booster offers Bluetooth connectivity for mobile fitness applications.
Targeting a Wide Audience
With its modern design and various speed options, the Yamaha Booster caters to a broad audience. Young riders will appreciate its stylish looks and agility, while older users will benefit from its customizable settings.
