Popular electric truck returns to dealerships with updated features and competitive pricing.
The wait is over for fans of the Ford F-150 Lightning. After a two-month hiatus due to an undisclosed quality issue, Ford has resumed deliveries of the 2024 model year electric truck to dealerships.
Production Resumes, Orders Now Open
The Dearborn automaker halted sales of the F-150 Lightning in February 2024. While production continued at the Rouge Electric Vehicle Center in Michigan, deliveries were put on hold until the quality concern was addressed.
Fortunately, the issue has been resolved and Ford is now accepting orders for the 2024 F-150 Lightning. The truck remains a compelling option in the growing electric vehicle segment, offering a combination of utility, capability, and range.
Starting MSRP Remains Competitive
The base XLT trim level starts at $62,995 (excluding a $2,095 destination and delivery fee) and boasts an EPA-estimated range of 240 miles thanks to a standard 98-kWh battery pack. Upgrading to the larger 131-kWh battery pack in the Platinum trim unlocks a 300-mile range, starting at $84,995.
New Features and Inventory Management
The 2024 F-150 Lightning introduces a new Flash trim level, offering additional options for customization. Ford has also incorporated its patented Vapor Injection Heat Pump technology to enhance energy efficiency in cold climates. Additionally, the instrument cluster now displays an estimated charging completion time for added convenience.
Despite the sales pause, Ford managed to maintain strong demand for the F-150 Lightning in Q1 2024. With the quality issue resolved, Ford can now focus on clearing remaining inventory of 2023 models and capitalize on the momentum of the electric truck market.

EV Market Outlook
While Ford recently reduced production of the F-150 Lightning to prioritize gas and hybrid trucks due to a slowdown in overall EV adoption, the non-Tesla EV segment continues to experience rapid growth. The recent compatibility of Tesla’s Supercharger network with the F-150 Lightning through the Tesla NACS charging adapter might further boost the truck’s appeal.
