October 3, 2024 | Mumbai, India:- Mahindra has done it again, unveiling the all-new BE6E, a car that’s already making waves as one of the most talked-about models of 2024. Packed with radical features, practical range, solid hardware, and tech innovations, this EV is bound to turn heads—and leave neighbors either in awe or disbelief.
Let’s address the elephant in the room: this is not a concept car. What you see is exactly what you get. From any angle, the BE6E is a visual surprise, resembling something straight out of a sci-fi movie. The illuminated logo, bold inverted C-shaped LEDs, and a bonnet scoop for airflow all scream futuristic design. Sharp lines and cuts evoke comparisons to the Cybertruck or even the Batmobile, especially in its sleek black variant. Add glossy black body panels, a coupe roofline, and a spectacular light show in the tail lights, and you’ve got a car that’s as much a statement as it is a machine.
Inside, the BE6E redefines what a car cabin can be. Drawing inspiration from fighter jets and race cars, the cockpit features a floating halo that lights up when you insert the magnetic key and press start. From the aircraft-inspired gear lever to the overhead console switches, every detail feels unconventional. Even the AC vents and door pull straps feel like something you’d find in a race car.
The two-spoke steering wheel, equipped with an illuminated “B” logo and a boost mode button, adds to the futuristic feel. Dual 12.3-inch screens powered by Snapdragon processors run Mahindra’s new Maya software, offering Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and responsive touch controls. And then there’s the Infinity glass sunroof with customizable lighting effects—16 million colors, to be exact.
In terms of tech, the BE6E leaves no stone unturned. It comes with a driver-monitoring camera for fatigue alerts, AR heads-up display, dual-zone climate control, built-in air purifier, and even a Dolby Atmos 16-speaker audio system. The car’s adaptive suspension and variable gear ratios ensure a smooth ride, while the seven airbags and Level 2+ ADAS features make safety a priority.
Under the hood—or rather, the floor—the BE6E offers two battery variants: a 59 kWh version producing 228 horsepower and a larger 79 kWh variant delivering 281 horsepower. Both drive the rear wheels and provide impressive acceleration, with 0-100 km/h achieved in just 6.7 seconds. The WLTP range stands at 550 km, with real-world tests confirming a range close to 500 km. Fast-charging capability allows the battery to go from 20% to 80% in just 20 minutes.
However, the sporty design does come with compromises. Rear seat space is limited, especially for taller passengers, and the black interior can feel a bit cramped. Boot space is also modest. But for those who prioritize a thrilling driving experience, the BE6E hits all the right notes.
Starting at ₹18.9 lakh, the BE6E is priced competitively, especially for its base variant, which still packs a significant number of features. Mahindra’s boldness in creating a car this radical is commendable, setting a new benchmark for Indian manufacturers. Love it or not, the BE6E demands attention—and it’s here to stay.
