More Affordable Electric Van Arrives in Dealerships Later This Year
Mercedes-Benz is offering more options for businesses looking to go electric with the introduction of a new, smaller battery option for the 2025 model year eSprinter.
Previously, the eSprinter only came with a large 113 kWh battery pack, starting at $74,181. The new addition features an 81 kWh battery, bringing the starting price down to $63,500 – a significant decrease of over $10,000.
Targeting Specific Needs
This new battery option caters to businesses with shorter range requirements, such as inner-city delivery or regional transport. While the smaller battery offers a reduced estimated range of 204 miles (WLTP) compared to the larger battery’s 297 miles, it provides a more accessible entry point for companies interested in electric vans.
Multiple Configurations Available
The 2025 eSprinter retains its modular design, offering various configurations. The new option comes with a shorter 144-inch wheelbase and standard roof, while the larger battery variant maintains the 170-inch wheelbase and high roof option. All models share the same maximum weight capacity of 9,370 lbs, but payload and cargo volume vary based on configuration.
Performance and Charging
The eSprinter continues to utilize a rear-wheel-drive permanent magnet synchronous motor, with two power options: 100 kW (134 hp) and 150 kW (201 hp). Both offer 400 Nm (295 lb-ft) of torque. The standard AC onboard charger delivers 9.6 kW, with DC fast-charging capability using CCS1. Depending on the charger, the battery can be replenished from 10% to 80% in around 30 minutes.
Upgraded Technology and Safety Features
The 2025 eSprinter boasts the latest generation Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX) infotainment system with a 10.25-inch display. This system offers improved processing power, easier navigation, and smartphone integration with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Additionally, over-the-air software updates ensure the eSprinter stays up-to-date.
Safety advancements include an upgraded standard Active Brake Assist system with new functionalities, along with enhanced standard equipment like a multi-function steering wheel, tire pressure monitoring, and more. Winter packages with features like heated seats are also available.
